About Matt

Matt’s family is originally from Texas. His mom is from Moulton, and his dad is from the area near Mercedes. Matt’s dad was in the army and was a scientist. Matt’s mom was a schoolteacher before becoming a CPA and she was always a dedicated member of the community she was in. Matt grew up watching his parents serve their country and community.

After graduating from Hays High School, Matt joined the United States Army, further strengthening his commitment to service and responsibility.

Matt earned his undergraduate degree from Fort Hays State University before attending law school at the University of Kansas.

In 2019, he made the intentional decision to return to Hays, drawn by the strength of the community and the opportunity to serve families where access to domestic relations attorneys is limited.

Before joining Kennedy Berkley, Matt worked with Kansas Legal Services, driven by a simple but powerful motivation: to benefit the people around him, a value instilled in him by his parents.

Outside of work, Matt is a dedicated parent to his teenage daughter, with a strong focus on family and intentional parenting. He loves dogs, spending time outdoors, camping, off-roading, hands-on physical projects, and exploring interests in cars and science — pursuits that reflect his curiosity, practicality, and appreciation for hard work.
