Karter Granzella

Karter’s relationship with Kennedy Berkley began before he officially joined the firm. In December 2023, while looking for a firm to sponsor him through the Kansas Rural Lawyer Externship Program, he reached out to Managing Partners Lance Cochran and Jim Angell with an email introducing himself and asking for an opportunity. That email turned into a meeting, and ultimately, a place at Kennedy Berkley beginning with his 1L summer in 2024.

Today, Karter’s practice includes transactional matters, estate planning, trust and estate litigation, civil litigation, and a variety of other legal matters. His approach to practicing law centers on creating positive, understandable legal experiences for clients, particularly those unfamiliar with legal processes or unsure where to begin.

About Karter

A Salina native, Karter Granzella grew up in central Kansas and graduated from Salina South High School before attending Kansas State University for his undergraduate degree and Washburn University School of Law.

Karter understands that legal matters can often feel complicated and overwhelming, and he strives to make the process more approachable by communicating clearly, simplifying the steps where possible, and helping clients understand not just what needs to happen, but why.

Serving rural Kansas is especially important to Karter. Having grown up in the region, he has seen firsthand both the strength of rural communities and the need for young attorneys committed to serving them. He is passionate about building his career in Kansas and helping individuals, families, farmers, business owners, and communities throughout the state have access to trusted legal counsel close to home.

While at Washburn University School of Law, Karter served as Secretary of the Agricultural Law Association for two years and as a law school ambassador for two years.

Outside of the office, Karter enjoys spending time with his wife, family, and friends. He is an avid hunter and dirt-track racing enthusiast, both behind the wheel and from the stands. He’s also a devoted Kansas State fan (Go Cats!) and Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
