You Know It’s Summer at Kennedy Berkley When...

There’s something about that first Monday after Memorial Day. The office has a fresh energy, a sense of new beginnings—and it’s not just the seasonal sunshine making its way into the windows. It’s the arrival of our summer interns.

We spend months beforehand preparing for this: the interviews, the planning, the onboarding. But nothing makes it real like seeing their faces on that first day. It brings life to the office. Maybe it’s because so many of us remember what it was like to be in their shoes. Or maybe it’s the contagious drive they bring with them—a reminder of the passion and purpose that first called us to this profession.

This summer, we are proud to welcome three standout students—Abby, Karter, and Keeton—each bringing unique strengths, stories, and aspirations. Get to know the future of the legal field right here at Kennedy Berkley.

Abby Harding - Kennedy Berkley Intern

Abby – Dodge City Native | Bridging Science and Law

If the name sounds familiar, it should. Abby is the younger sister of our very own Paige Harding, attorney at Kennedy Berkley’s Dodge City office—and together, these two are taking over Dodge City this summer, one legal matter at a time.

With deep roots in Western Kansas, Abby grew up working cattle alongside her sisters and balancing a full schedule of school, community activities, and leadership roles. She earned her undergraduate degree in Human Biology from the University of Kansas, and is now going into her second year at Washburn University School of Law where she’s exploring how science and law can work hand-in-hand.

You may be asking yourself... is putting two sisters together at the same office a good idea? The girls answered that one themselves:

“We’ve worked together our whole lives—from branding cattle on our family ranch to cheering on the same high school team. This is just another chapter we get to share.”

Abby’s favorite class so far has been Constitutional Law, where she’s learned to balance personal beliefs with legal interpretation. She’s particularly interested in pursuing Medical Malpractice or Intellectual Property, blending her scientific background with a growing passion for advocacy.

Smart, steady, and insightful, Abby brings a thoughtful presence to the office—and we’re honored to have her on the team this summer.

Karter Granzella - Kennedy Berkley Summer intern

Karter – Salina Local | Future Transactional + Family Law Attorney

Karter Granzella is not your typical law student. By day, he’s a second-year law student at Washburn, clerk at Kennedy Berkley, and member of the Ag Law Society. By night (and weekends), he’s behind the wheel of an IMCA Stock Car, dirt flying, engine roaring—racing at tracks across Kansas.

Karter graduated from Salina South and studied economics at Kansas State University before heading to law school. He’s now entering his third year, and thanks to Washburn’s "Third Year Anywhere" program, he’ll be completing his final year remotely—working right here at our Salina office.

His favorite class so far? Personal Income Tax. Yep, you read that right.

“There’s just something about digging into things like deductions and asset realization that makes it click for me. I like the logic of it all.”

Karter is currently focused on business law, tax, estate planning, and recently began exploring family law and divorce cases—bringing both his transactional expertise and strong interpersonal instincts to the table. His hands-on learning style, hardworking roots, and deep Salina ties make him a standout asset to the firm.

And yes—he still races with his dad. The same car they’ve worked on together since high school is still hitting the track.

Keeton Lee - Kennedy Berkley Summer Intern

Keeton – Lindsborg Native | Future Ag & Real Estate Attorney with a Heart for Rural Communities

Raised in the small town of Lindsborg, Kansas, Keeton Lee has always had a passion for serving rural communities. With a background in political science and history from Washburn University, his interest in law was sparked early—first in a high school government class, then strengthened through internships with both the Kansas House of Representatives and the U.S. House of Representatives.

Now entering his second year at Washburn University School of Law, Keeton is focusing his legal studies on agricultural law, real estate law, and oil & gas. His career goals are deeply tied to his roots—he hopes to return to central Kansas and serve the very communities that raised him.

“I’ve always wanted to work in a way that gives back to people like my own family and neighbors. That’s where I feel I can make the biggest impact.”

Outside the office, Keeton enjoys golfing, hiking, and spending time outdoors—activities that help him stay grounded and energized. But the foundation of his drive and perspective comes from his faith, which he says has played a central role in both his personal and professional life.

Keeton brings sincerity, purpose, and a deep respect for the people of rural Kansas into every conversation. With a heart for service and a clear sense of direction, we know Keeton is going to make an incredible mark on the legal field—and we’re proud to be part of his journey.

A Bright Future, Right Here at Home

At Kennedy Berkley, we believe in investing in the next generation of attorneys not just because it’s tradition—but because it renews our sense of purpose. Our interns remind us that the law is alive. That the work we do matters. That the future is in good hands.

To Abby, Karter, and Keeton—thank you for choosing us. We’re lucky to learn alongside you this summer.
