Two Kennedy Berkley Attorneys Win Salina Journal Community’s Choice Awards

Kennedy Berkley attorneys Laurel Driskell and Larry Michel have been honored in the Salina Journal’s 2023 Community’s Choice Awards, published online and in print on October 15. Laurel was named the top Family Law attorney, while Larry was named the top Personal Injury attorney. Kennedy Berkley was also a finalist in the Law Firms category.


The yearly awards recognize 510 businesses and organizations in more than 170 categories, from Kids & Education to Entertainment & Leisure. Winners are both nominated and voted for by community members living within 50 miles of the Salina region.


Laurel Driskell handles many aspects of Family Law, including prenuptial agreements, divorces, spousal support, asset division, child custody, and child support. A Salina native, Laurel obtained her B.S. and J.D. at the University of Kansas. She gives back to her hometown through work with various organizations such as the Salina Area United Way, Greater Salina Community Foundation, Salina Childcare Association, State of Kansas Indigents Defense Services Board, Kansas and Ottawa County Bar Associations, and the Kansas Women Attorneys Association.


Larry Michel also attended the University of Kansas for his undergraduate and legal studies and has been handling employment law disputes related to discrimination, wrongful termination, noncompete agreements, and workplace injuries since 1989. He is known in the Salina community for his work with organizations such as the USD 305 Board of Education, Salina Area Chamber of Commerce, Salina Health Education Foundation, and Kansas Legal Services.
